Recommendations made for eco-friendly house changes

The government is under pressure from a committee of MPs to take
firmer action to boost energy efficiency in city properties.
In news that may interest the buy-to-let market, the All Party
Urban Development Group suggested financial incentives and tighter
building regulations could help achieve carbon-cutting
targets.
In total, the committee made eight recommendations this week aimed
at encouraging efficiency, including the extension of display
energy certificates to cover private buildings.
A spokesman for the MPs said: "The readiness of the private sector
to give evidence for this report shows that it is willing to work
with the government, but we need a clear vision on how to go
forward."
Suggestions include owners and occupiers being given better advice
on how to make easy energy savings and a single standard for
measuring a building's efficiency.
In other news, the National Landlords Association (NLA) has advised
buy-to-let landlords they can make their properties more attractive
by updating kitchens and bathrooms.
