Homebuyers advised to consult an IFA

Homebuyers should consult an independent financial advisor rather
than simply relying on information gleaned online, according to a
mortgage expert.
Statistics released by Birmingham Midshires bank this week showed
that 23 per cent of Britons use price comparison and financial news
websites to garner information about mortgages.
Meanwhile, 43 per cent scan the internet for savings information
and 22 per cent go online to learn more about potential
investments.
However, while 46 per cent of those surveyed said they felt they
could find all the information they needed on the web, this should
then be followed up by consulting an independent financial advisor,
managing director of Birmingham Midshires Tim Hague said.
"It is great that people now have more information at their
fingertips, but it is important to remember that not everyone is
the same and advice on everything from relationships to mortgages
needs to be tailored to meet people's exact circumstances.
"Where mortgages are concerned, we recommend that people seek the
advice of a regulated intermediary to ensure they get the deal that
is right for them," he added.
